Company background
PLAYSTAR (PS) is an iGaming studio that makes slots, card games and other casual casino-style games for operators. Trade coverage from SiGMA in 2024 said PlayStar was established in 2015. That year it marked a "9-year journey" heading towards its 10th anniversary, and it described itself as a leading name in the Southeast Asian market, especially Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.
In 2023, PlayStar rebranded with the slogan "Drive to Shine!". In May 2026, Asia Gaming Brief reported a partnership with aggregator QTech Games. Through it, PlayStar planned to take its games beyond its home markets into emerging markets from Africa to Latin America. In that announcement, a PlayStar representative referred to "initial success in our home territories over our first decade of operations."
Notable PlayStar games
These titles are named in PlayStar's own catalogue and in trade coverage:
- Mahjong Ways 3+ (called "Mahjong 3+" in trade press) and Mahjong Ways 3: Mahjong-themed slots. PlayStar describes a "Multiplier Scroll" feature and a Golden Dragon respin. (Despite the similar name, these are PlayStar games, not part of PG Soft's Mahjong Ways series.)
- Mahjong: Origin and Mahjong: Origin 2: 2,000-ways mahjong slots with cascades.
- Treasure of Aztec Z: Uses PlayStar's "Spread" respin feature.
- Athena: Lucky Spread and Caishen: Lucky Spread: Games built on the Lucky Spread mechanic.
- Knight Arthur: Presented by PlayStar as a flagship, high-volatility title using its "ANY8 Win Respin" mechanic.
- Deng Deng: A newer slot named in the 2026 QTech announcement.
- Color Game, Hi-Lo and Dummy 2: Card and dice-style games, some localised for the Philippines and Thailand.
We haven't listed RTP figures because we couldn't find published RTPs on PlayStar's official game listings.
What PlayStar games are known for
- Lucky Spread / PS Spread. This is PlayStar's best-known mechanic. In PlayStar's descriptions, a special symbol landing in a set position "activates" prize values and spreads to the surrounding symbols, so several prizes can be collected at once.
- ANY8 and pay-anywhere grids. Newer games like Zeus of Olympus, Electric Zeus and Sugar Teddy use "match 8 anywhere" grids with cascades and multipliers.
- Lucky Strike feature options. Many PS games describe a "Lucky Strike" option that guarantees entry to the bonus game.
- Local themes. Mahjong, fortune gods, Thai Hi-Lo and Filipino palayok themes reflect PlayStar's Southeast Asian focus.
- Big catalogue of 243-way classics. PlayStar's older titles include many 243-ways and one-line slots.
Mobile and HTML5
PlayStar's catalogue is designed for online play on the mobile and desktop platforms of its operator partners.
